Dear Food Pantry & Meal Program Directors,
Project Bread’s FoodSource Hotline is asking for your help in notifying your participants and
colleagues about SNAP and the other food resources available throughout the state to help bolster Massachusetts residents. As you experience daily, individuals and families across Massachusetts are struggling with food access due to inflation in daily living costs and reductions in government supports. We hope to be a complement to the incredible work you all are doing.
Project Bread's FoodSource Hotline (1-800-645-8333) is a statewide, confidential resource line designated to help people across Massachusetts access a variety of food resources. Our hotline counselors can offer SNAP eligibility screenings and provide over-the-phone application assistance to help those who may be intimidated by the application process. We can also provide information on food pantries, community meals, and other low costs food programs.
Our hotline is open for calls or texts Monday through Friday from 8am to 7pm and Saturday from 10am to 2pm. We are able to assist callers in over 180 languages through our bilingual staff and interpreter service. Clients are also encouraged to connect with us via our Live Chat feature on gettingsnap.org
Another aspect of our services is providing presentations about the SNAP program and the FoodSourceHotline. We are able to complete presentations virtually or in person. With the recent changes to SNAP and instability around the program during the recent government shutdown/ we hope that presentations can provide clarity on the changes and provide a space to ask questions.
To support outreach efforts around SNAP, we also have a range of printed and digital materials in 13 languages that can be shared with clients. On our online Resource Hub, you can look at the different materials and request them through our Online Order Form or the included paper version of order form.
These can all be found on ProjectBread.org/resource-directory.
If you have any questions about the outreach materials or presentations (which are both provided at no cost), please reach out to me at: 617-239-2588.
We hope that you will share our Hotline’s services and contact information with your participants and colleagues.
Sincerely,
Leah Schelkel
